LiteFarm is designed for growers, including crop, dairy, poultry, and pig farmers, as well as farm technicians, farmer cooperatives & organizations, researchers, and academics. The platform supports a diverse range of agricultural operations and research related to food security and climate change.
LiteFarm provides tools to help organizations manage farm operations, track sustainability metrics, and support decision-making with data-driven insights. Organizations such as farmer cooperatives, NGOs, and research institutions can use LiteFarm to streamline workflows and monitor progress toward sustainability goals.
Absolutely! LiteFarm supports record-keeping for various farm operations, including crop plans, livestock management, farm tasks, and finances. It also allows users to export data for certification purposes. While LiteFarm is not a full-fledged accounting tool, the Finances section provides a simple way to manage farm finances. You can use the pre-built revenue and expense types to record sales and purchases, with profit/loss calculations available in real time.
No, LiteFarm is currently a web-based application and is not available for download from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We recommend using Google Chrome for the best experience. Since LiteFarm is web-based, it can be accessed on both desktop and mobile devices through a browser. While we aim to offer a dedicated mobile app in the future, there are currently no active development plans for one.

LiteFarm collects data to generate insights on the financial, environmental, and social impacts of farm management decisions while supporting non-commercial academic research on sustainable food systems. All personal data is securely stored and never shared with third parties without consent. Aggregated and anonymized data may be used to support academic research, but no personally identifiable information is disclosed. For more details, please refer to our Data Policy.
Users can submit feedback by clicking the Send a Message icon in the top right corner of the app. Additionally, users can share ideas and vote on existing suggestions through our product feedback portal.
You can reset your password by selecting Forgot Password on the login page and following the instructions sent to your email.
LiteFarm takes data privacy seriously, employing encryption and secure servers to protect user data. For details on our data handling practices, you can review our Consent Form and Privacy Policy. Users can contact us anytime with questions or concerns about data privacy.
Users can add and edit farm locations via the Map section, where they can outline fields, residences, farm boundaries, and other elements to accurately represent their farm digitally. For a step-by-step guide, check out our tutorial.
Yes! Completed and abandoned tasks are available in the Task History section of the app. You can use the funnel icon to filter tasks based on status, location, task type, or assignee.
Users can add notes when creating or completing a task under the Details section to ensure important information is logged.
We do not typically offer 1-1 demos, but we highly encourage you to check out our tutorial series that has detailed steps on how to navigate LiteFarm. If you are an organization or a group, and need demo or information for your specific use case, please write to us at litefarm.team@ubc.ca. We occasionally have webinars that are free for everyone to attend, the details will be posted on our website and in LinkedIn.
Yes! LiteFarm includes features to help users comply with organic certification requirements. The platform allows users to document inputs, track activities, and maintain detailed farm records. These records can be used to generate reports that align with organic certification standards, helping users demonstrate compliance during audits and inspections. LiteFarm is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Hindi, with more languages planned for the future.
LiteFarm primarily focuses on outdoor farming operations. However, some users have adapted it for indoor farming by customizing areas and crop plans.
You can report a bug by clicking the 'Send a Message' icon in the top right corner of the LiteFarm app. This opens the Get Help or Give Feedback form, where you can select the type of support, enter your message, and upload optional screenshots. Our support team will follow up within 48 hours on working days.
Currently, users cannot upload images directly to tasks, but they can add detailed notes. We are considering adding image support in future updates.
Yes! LiteFarm supports collaboration by allowing multiple users to work together on the same farm. You can easily invite team members through the People section in the main menu.
LiteFarm currently offers four user roles:
Farm Owner
Farm Manager
Extension Officer
Farm Worker
Please note that Farm Worker accounts have limited access and functionality compared to the other roles.

Yes! During crop plan creation, users can select planting methods such as rows, beds, or containers. However, visual row definitions on the map are not yet available.
